2. Improve Water Management
Water is essential to all farm enterprises, yet both too much and too little water are increasingly common challenges as precipitation patterns become more variable and extreme. Drought reduces crop yields, stresses livestock, and strains water supplies. Conversely, excess precipitation water-logs soils, delays planting, damages crops, and degrades fields and infrastructure. Effective water management helps farms navigate these extremes while minimizing erosion, runoff, and environmental costs. Protecting and restoring natural water systems further supports farm resilience by moderating both flood and drought conditions, and benefits the ecosystem and overall health of the land.

Collect and Store Water for Dry Spells

Use Water Efficiently

Avoid Flood-Prone Areas and Manage Water

Reduce mud in high-traffic livestock areas by installing heavy-use area pads, and divert water from heavy traffic or confinement areas

Regulate water flow with diversions, terraces, waterways, grade stabilization structures, etc.

Protect Natural Water Systems
